I thought back to the stamp-like impression I had made to begin composition #2. I wanted to revisit that type of mark that was less drippy and repeat it. I felt this could be more easily replicated using acrylic. So I began with acrylic strikes. I continued to make marks until I stepped back and thought to myself, ”this looks like two hockey teams.” It brought me back to the frozen ponds of my childhood and decided to use my roller blades to create a symbol of the ice. I covered my blades with oil paint and skated back and forth across the bottom of the canvas, varying between blue and white. I added a couple of stick slaps to create some perspective. To me this painting reminds me of my love for hockey. You always appreciate the players you play with and against, but you never stop loving the game and the ice you play on.
